Optimistic Storm is no longer just three books. From this week it is a year-long serialisation on Substack, released in short, focused posts that you can read in a few minutes.
Readers told me the books were dense. So I am breaking roughly 270,000 words into about 150 shorter posts, each written for the people it affects most: homeowners, renters, businesses, governments, and the billions still waiting for affordable energy.
Three streams, three posts a week
- Mondays: Electrons Not Molecules. The end of the fossil fuel era: solar, wind, batteries, transport, the grid, and the politics in the way.
- Wednesdays: The Debunk. Hydrogen, nuclear and carbon capture, with the physics and economics shown every time.
- Weekends: The Long Read. AI and the future of work, food, health, and fifty years of watching this unfold.
How to follow
Subscribe on Substack at substack.com/@hughbutler35 and each post will arrive in your inbox. I will also share summaries here and on social media, with links back to the full posts. Questions and challenges in the comments are welcome; the best Long Reads will come from them.
