Twenty companies are responsible for 40% of emissions globally in 2023. Over 2/3rds of them are state owned. Since 1750, just 25 entities have created the climate crisis we are currently facing. Carbon Majors have released their 2023 report and shows emissions continue to rise with over 180 companies contributing to emissions globally.

Earth Energy Imbalance Visualization

Earth’s energy imbalance EEI is caused by greenhouse gases. Leon Simons uses analogies (bombs, sunlight) to show the immense amount of heat trapped (20 ZJ/year). This trapped heat is 33x humanity’s annual energy use and could raise sea levels by 15cm. The goal is to visualize the vast amount of heat our actions cause.
